The Services I Offer

I offer a few different services as "development" does not quite fit much of what people need. I explain the different services further down the page.

The follow steps are the steps I take when I am working on your project. Some steps may be ignored depending on the actual work being done. If you have any questions regarding the steps I use please don't hesitate to email me and ask me.

Meet clients to go over all the details of the project so I have a 100% understanding of the work needed
Research (of competitors and similar themed sites) for design and functionality ideas
Work with my designer or the clients to go over the designs for the site to make sure they are all web safe
Programming of all required pages (HTML, CSS or other language)
Programming of all necessary components (scripts)
Bug checking (run through all pages in multiple browsers looking for any issues)
Sign off by client
Upload web site to web host (I will help clients find the best one for their needs if they do not already have one)
Submission of site to search engines

Web Development: $45 - $60 an hour
Web Maintenance: $35 an hour
Content Management: $30 an hour

Web Development Services

Today, it's almost like everyone needs to have a website. Be it for a small mom and pop store, a large chain store or a simple family website. A website allows you to reach a larger audience then you could ever reach by word of mouth. A website can expand your customer base allowing you to sell your goods to more people. A website can also allow you to have a place for your family to meet (especially if they are spread around the world) and to keep in touch.

I work with designers to design you a site (if you don't already have a design) to display all the information you want to display in an easy to navigate way. I will work with you through the entire process to make sure you are happy with the process of your site. You will be able to see the site as it evolves and provide any changes or additions you can think of as we go.

As I work on your website, you will be provided and username and password to access your folder on my site. From there you can view the current status of your site as well as view the website on the web. At any time during the process you can make any changes (these will affect the price) and ask any questions about the current work.

Web Maintenance Services

Unless you want people to get tired of seeing the same stuff every time they visit your site, you need to keep it updated and working. The only problem is the time it takes you to do this can be quite annoying when you have a busy schedule. So what do you do? Do you not update your site and let it become stale or do you take the time to update it?

You can keep in contact with me and I will make periodic updates to your site as well as fix things that may not be working or add small features that you want to help keep your site modern. You can email me the changes and I will make then to your site. This way if you are very busy you don't need to worry about your site anymore.

Update information being displayed on your site
Size/edit photos and then upload them
Fix issues with anything that might not be working properly on your site
Add a new page to your site with all new information
Update a calendar or site news or events listing

Don't let your site become boring. Feel free to contact me and we can talk about how to update your site and how often. If you would prefer to make the changes and updates yourself, like to a calendar of events or a news section, but you do not want to go through a third party such as myself, maybe we can talk about my custom scripting and we can write you an easy to use program to allow you to update this information yourself.

Content Management

If you had a website built that uses a content management system (CMS) you still need to enter all the information in and make any changes if you need new content. Sometimes that still requires editing images and writing HTML code for tables or additional scripts for your site. I offer my programming skills for this as well. All you would need is to send me the changes you need and I can make the various changes to your site in your content system. If you do not have a CMS, making changes to your site would fall under the web maintenance service.

Custom Scripting Services

If you want to have any sort of interaction with your visitors, you need a script on your site. A script is code that runs on command to allow you to do things like form validation, content scrolling and many other things. A guestbook is also another form of scripting that uses a database to store all the information. I can write scripts for you in various programming languages. I can research what languages your web host supports and code in those languages.

Scripts make your site more dynamic and less static because you can always have the website doing something new, changing content for you so the site always looks different for your visitors.

If you have an idea of something you would like done, after we talk about it I can tell you if it is possible to do and if there are any limitations. I will do all the research on the best way to do what you need and to make sure it is possible on your web host. I will choose the best programming language to fit your needs.

Any development or maintenance that I do for you, if it requires some scripting I will do that as part of the development or maintenance work and not charge you separately.
